  • Job Description

    ARMA-Global is seeking a self-starter Technical Writer to participate as a member of an integrated government/contractor team of technical and functional experts in the conduct of cybersecurity at USSOCOM. The office monitors USSOCOM networks and systems for cyber threats and works with stakeholders to mitigate and remediate identified cyber vulnerabilities. Member will provide written products and briefings related to monitoring, compliance, security engineering, and operations to stakeholders. This position will support the office by improving existing deliverables as well as creating new deliverables, presentations, reports, and communications. The candidate should have an understanding of Cybersecurity topics, and be able to translate technical concepts into business speak.

    • Review and edit information from technical team members and other contributors for content, organization, accuracy, grammar, consistency, literary quality, and format in accordance with changing regulations and standards.
    • Review publications for grammar, spelling, punctuation, capitalization, sentence structure, redundancy, composition, style, etc.
    • Review technical publications to ensure that ideas are conveyed clearly by words, pictures, tables, graphs, and illustrations.
    • Prepare material for publication for internal and external distribution through technical libraries or communities of practice.
    • Manages the preparation and editing of operation and maintenance manuals and related technical documentation.
    Other tasks may include:
    • Directly, or through subordinate supervisors, manages the research, preparation and editing of operation and maintenance manuals and related technical documentation. 
    • Supervises assigned technical documentation staff, including non-exempt Technical Writers and exempt Technical Editors.
    • Ensures documents prepared by subordinates meet editorial and customer specifications and adhere to standards for quality, graphics, format, and style.
    • May also research, prepare and edit complex technical documents for publication, including user's manuals, training materials, installation guides, proposals, and reports.
    • Oversees the creation of proposals and multi-media presentation materials.
    • Oversees the design and development of marketing brochures, conference programs, public relations announcements, and other materials when requested.
    • Maintains current knowledge of relevant technology as assigned.
    • Participates in special projects as required.

    Education

    Bachelors Degree in English, Journalism or a related discipline or the equivalent combination of education, technical training, or work experience.

    Qualifications

    8-10 years of related experience managing the preparation and editing of technical documentation.

     

    REQUIRED SKILLS:

    • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications to include Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, and Project
    • Working knowledge of Cybersecurity concepts and practices, to include:
      • penetration testing
      • cybersecurity monitoring
      • vulnerability mitigation and remediation
    • Effective written and verbal communication skills
