As a Mission Planning Systems Administrator, perform systems administration supporting the operation, maintenance, and installation of Mission Planning Environment (MPE). Provide user support for numerous devices and maintain updated software/hardware configurations. Responsible for training users on software applications related to flight operations and threat environments. Be able to troubleshoot MPE and explain solutions to users. Provide email / phone support (Tier II and Tier III) for mission planning systems deployed worldwide. Maintain network servers with current imagery and charts. Provide intuitive solutions for ever changing user support requests. Manage system updates for multiple flight planning systems for various MDS’ on a routine basis.
Candidate must be able to analyze/troubleshoot hardware, software malfunctions, accomplish basic file download, manipulation, installation, and operation, administer networking hardware/software and communications over classified and unclassified government networks, apply computer security procedures and principles and perform trusted data extraction functions. Must be able to effectively communicate, present, and construct technical documentation and deliver technical briefings and training through classroom instruction.
Candidate must have an understanding of Mission-Planning systems’ functions and external interfaces of various databases including system setup and tear-down procedures and software loading. Understanding of aviation mission planning concepts and aircraft performance factors for DoD mission planning/execution/debriefing/rehearsal software such as but not limited to; Portable Flight Planning Software (PFPS), XPLAN, Falcon View, SAMS-ESA, and GIS management tools is desirable.
Candidate must be able to support short-notice unit needs during exercises, daily training, deployments, and real-world contingencies to include traveling with units to deployed locations, providing support/expertise as requested by customers or system program offices. Willingness to attend technical conferences, working groups, site evaluations, platform fielding support events, and other customer driven sustainment and developmental events as required.
Minimum of five (5) years of experience using Microsoft Operating Systems, to include Windows 7, Windows Server, Windows Media Server and Geo-spatial Library (GPL) architecture required
Experience with mission planning software such as PFPS, SAMS ESA, and / or Joint Mission Planning System (JMPS)
Minimum four (4) years mission planning experience preferably in SOF Flying operations
Experience with DoD mission planning/execution/brief and debriefing systems, specialized airdrop (e.g. JPADS), cargo or refueling software/systems, administering infrastructure support client and/or server systems both on and off DoD networks desired and/or operational crew experience required
Demonstrated experience administering infrastructure support to mainframe and / or client server systems
Ability to analyze/troubleshoot hardware, software, and Windows operating systems required
Knowledge of networking hardware/software over classified and unclassified government networks required
Ability to apply computer security policy, procedures, and protective measures required
