    Responsibilities

     

    The Systems Engineer, working under the direction of a Project Manager, provides IT systems engineering support including design and implementation of software, hardware, configurations, and architectures for a suite of products and services, both in an on-premise datacenter and in the Cloud. Works as a member of a diverse engineering team to ensure all operating mission nodes (operations centers, airborne weapon systems, ground teams, and other) can interoperate and execute synchronized mission activities via their mission systems, connected through various mission networks. Provides higher order systems and IT engineering, analysis, and baseline systems development. Develops and tests computer and other device configurations and builds, and develops systems and systems architectures using NIST and DISA STIG standards. Provides security analysis, support training, and develops organizational standards for Government approval. Mentors systems administration staff on engineering principles and support for newly engineered systems.

     

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

    • Demonstrated experience (8 – 10 years preferred) engineering and developing various IT hardware and software solutions, analyzing systems and requirements, experimenting and testing, performing vulnerability and security assessments, and developing and integrating complex IT solutions
    • Although normal business hours are the standard, flexibility needed to support a dynamic customer and 24/7 worldwide operations
    • IT systems supported includes Red Hat and Windows servers, storage/SAN such as NetApp, and clients and various COTS applications
    • Preferred skills and experience:
      • Virtualization such as VMWare vCenter/vSphere
      • Strong Knowledge of TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS, networking fundamentals and have some experience supporting switches and routers
      • Implementing DISA STIG or SRG requirements
      • Veeam Backup & Replication, Splunk, AirWatch, Plone/Zope, Apache, NGINX
      • Streaming technologies such as IGMP, RTMP, Wowza, HTML5
    • Scripting and/or automation experience or skillset highly desirable: Powershell or Bash or Ansible
    • Amazon Web Services and/or Azure experience a plus

     

    Education

    Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Math, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

    Certification requirements:

    • DoD Instruction 8570.01-M, IAM L-2 IAT-Level 2 (Sec+ CE) required
    • Operating System Certification (RHCE) required to start.  Exceptions possible for highly skilled RHCSA
    • One of the following AWS certifications required within 6 months of hire: AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Associate, AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Professional, AWS Certified Developer – Associate, AWS Certified DevOps Engineer – Professional (6 month waiver possible for the right candidate)

       

     

    Qualifications

    • 8-10 years of related systems engineering experience.
    • Must have a Secret Clearance to begin work and the ability to obtain a Top Secret-SCI clearance
    • The work is performed in an office environment
    • Possible short term TDYs to meet with users
    • Must be able to obtain a passport for OCONUS travel, if required
    • Lift over 35 LBS
