Job Description

As Systems Engineer, performs design of network, server, and application architectures.   Performs the administrative operation and maintenance of server hardware and software.  Troubleshoots system related problems at all levels of Cat5 and Fiber infrastructure, network components, network storage, and physical as well as virtual Linux and Windows based servers.  Maintains system security and executes practices and procedures to monitor usage statistics and logs, and monitor/ remedy attempts to penetrate or corrupt server files.  Maintains baseline configurations and performs modification of configuration settings.  Institutes troubleshooting and incident response procedures.    Provides team leadership and guidance to less experienced administrators.  Maintains proficiency in all aspects of Information Technology relevant to the customer’s requirements, and seeks formal and informal training for new or unfamiliar technologies.  Remains current in both hardware and software technological developments.  Recommends future direction or projects to management.  Provides expertise and in installing, configuring, or upgrading hardware and software components to enhance efficiency, capability, and/or security. 




Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities 


  • Strong experience with server virtualization (VMware VCP6)
  • CCNA level networking experience
  • Experience with Windows Server 2008 or 2012 administration (MCSA)
  • Experience with Data Center infrastructure
  • Experience with backup and restoration technologies and implementation methods
  • Experience with management of Storage Area Networking environments
  • Understanding of Blade server systems
  • Competent to work at a high technical level on all phases of systems engineering activities
  • Excellent communication and briefing skills; shows tact, effective listening skills and follow through
  • Motivated self-starter with solid work ethic and the ability to function in a mission-critical environment
  • Detail oriented and organized; able to understand information systems and ensure accuracy of work
  • Provides technical guidance to engineers with less experience
  • DOD 8570 IAT Level II required


Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical training, or work/military experience.


8-10 years of related systems engineering experience.
