Job Description

Under minimal supervision provides support to all Command and Control Mission Systems (C2MS), their associated software, hardware, configurations, and architectures as a part of the Specialized Automated Mission Suite (SAMS). Provide Tier II Operation and Maintenance (O&M) support for local and remote locations.


Functional duties include:

  • Install and maintain network systems for different classifications across multiple enclaves
  • Monitor network performance and review system and security logs
  • Evaluate hardware, software and peripheral equipment for simple and complex networks
  • Troubleshoot and resolve network issues to ensure quality transmission service of the network.
  • Implements network policies, procedures, standards, and ensure security policies are enforced
  • Works with other network professionals as directed to coordinate efforts, resolve cross-team issues and communicate changes.
  • Provide overview training of network monitoring to Tier I and Help Desk personnel as needed.
  • Maintain and update drawing and documentation for all networks and enclaves.


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of TCP/IP fundamentals, sub-netting, multicast, unicast traffic, routing protocols, and other networking fundamentals
  • Knowledge of wireless protocols, fundamentals, and implementation
  • Extensive experience configuring and troubleshooting Cisco routing, switching, and wireless access devices
  • Experience and knowledge that demonstrates competency with network design, operational support, hands-on implementation, configuration and trouble-shooting of multiple networking platforms and hardware devices
  • Experience with VPN’s, TACLANES, Firewalls, Proxy Servers, and other boundary devices is required
  • Experience installing and terminating copper and fiber-optic cable
  • Experience and knowledge with network management protocols such as SNMPv3, Net Flow, and SYSLOG while using tools such as Solarwinds and Splunk
  • Experience and knowledge with DOD STIGS and Information Assurance principles.
  • Ability to create/update network diagrams, training outlines, and document processes and procedures
  • Good communications skills; shows tact, effective listening skills and follow through
  • Can effectively deliver training; possess good mentoring skills
  • May be required to provide clear and effective direction to less experienced team members
  • With minimal supervision be able to evaluate network performance and interact with users to solve complex problems
  • Detail-oriented and organized; able to understand network evaluation criteria



Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or a related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical certifications or training, or work experience.


DoD 8570 IAT-2 or higher compliance required to start (Sec+ CE or higher)


CCNA R&S (within 6 months) and CCNA-Security (within 12 months) as a minimum


  • 2-5 years of directly related experience in network administration and support.
  • Work environment is administrative office
  • Candidate may travel for training, conferences, and work group meetings
  • Potential for short TDY’s to overseas locations – as needed
  • Pass DoD’s medical requirements for OCONUS as needed

Desired Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of network protocols OSPF/SNMP/QoS/802.1X/VPN/Net Flow
  • Experience working in a multi-tiered environment, alongside military or DoD personnel
  • Understanding of Agile and ITIL principles
