Job Description

The Network Engineer designs and integrates network components to support Airborne Mission Network C2 systems as part of the Command and Control Mission Systems (C2MS) program. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Requirements validation and decomposition; Network design and prototyping, documentation, Course of Action development and analysis, Coordinate with other agencies on integration and configuration of disparate aircraft data system into the Airborne Mission Network Systems, installation, integration, operational testing and evaluation; performing problem isolation and resolution; monitoring, tuning and setting network standards, working in a fast paced exciting environment with other professionals to coordinate efforts, resolve cross-team issues and communicate changes

 

 

REQUIRED SKILLS:

  • Superb knowledge of TCP/IP fundamentals, sub-netting, multicast, unicast traffic, routing, protocols, and other networking fundamentals to include but not limited to strong experience configuring switches and routers is required
  • Extensive experience configuring and troubleshooting Cisco routing and switching devices required
  • Experience and knowledge that demonstrates competency with network design, operational support, hands-on implementation, configuration and trouble-shooting of multiple networking platforms and hardware devices is required
  • Experience with Airborne Mission Networking is required
  • Experience with various encryption devices such as VPN’s, TACLANES, Firewalls, Proxy Servers, and other boundary devices is required
  • Experience with COMSEC fill devices is required
  • Experience working in a tactical environment, alongside military or DoD personnel, is required
  • Familiarity with SATCOM and radio platforms required
  • Knowledge of VoIP protocols H323/SCCP/RTP/QoS/SRST/MGC/SIP highly desired
  • Familiarity with mission systems such as: TBMCS, GCCS, TACLAN, C2PC, and others is a plus
  • Ability to work at a high technical level on all phases of network engineering and operations is required
  • Good communications skills; shows tact, effective listening skills and follow through
  • Can effectively deliver training on newly engineered solutions
  • Ability to provide clear and effective direction to less experienced staff and/or users
  • Must be able to evaluate network performance and interact with users to solve complex problem
  • Detail-oriented and organized; able to understand network evaluation criteria and be exact in assessments
  • Must closely follow network protocols and methodology
  • Ability to review the work of others and be able to detect errors or needed modifications

Education

Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical certifications or training, or work experience.

 

DoD 8570 IAT-2 or higher compliant required to start (CCNA R&S and CCNA-Security) CCNP or CCIE highly desired

Qualifications

5-8 years of directly related experience in network analysis and administration.

The work is typically performed in an office environment but will require some on-aircraft work

This work may require short-term TDYs to meet with users and/or perform aircraft analysis

Must be able to obtain a passport for OCONUS travel, if required. Existing passport highly desired
