General Dynamics Health Solutions/ ARMA has an opening supporting the DOD Human Performance and Behavioral Health Services. 

 

GD Health Solutions/ARMA have an exciting opportunity for individuals who are interested in supporting warriors with increased combat effectiveness, resiliency to show a measurable reduction in down time and create optimal performance on the targets. Additionally, this position will help to support and build stable families and support systems.

 

The Operational Psychologist shall provide technical expertise, guidance, and direct clinical services in the area of operational psychology to military personnel.

  • In concert with an existing active duty, or independently if no such active duty psychologist is available, the Operational Psychologist shall develop, plan and initiate resiliency programs for preventing and treating behavioral health issues to support all aspects of service member readiness and resilience.
  • The Operational Psychologist shall conduct, administer, and interpret a full spectrum of psychological assessment tools and consult with command personnel; manage relevant process improvement, program validation, and related research; develop and manage appropriate personnel selection records and filing systems.
  • The Operational Psychologist shall assume responsibility for management of referrals and disposition of referrals for behavioral health care.
  • The Operational Psychologist shall provide professional development and awareness education to leadership and military personnel as requested.
  • The Operational Psychologist shall provide crisis response and follow-up care in the event of unit casualties or other serious incidents.
  • The Operational Psychologist shall function as liaison between unit personnel and base/community helping professionals/agencies.
  • Where required, the Operational Psychologist shall support the assessment and selection of incoming personnel and provide feedback to unit leadership on suitability of personnel to serve within certain military organizations or positions.
  • All deliverables shall meet professional standards and guidelines defined by the organization's commander and/or senior Operational Psychologist.
  • The Operational Psychologist shall provide technical expertise, consultation, and direct support in the areas of assessment and selection of personnel, operational support, human performance enhancement, and the provision of clinical services to unit members.
  • The Operational Psychologist shall maintain credentialing requirements in good standing at a local military treatment facility.

Education

  • Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) or Psychology Doctor (Psy.D.) degree in clinical or counseling psychology from an APA approved psychology program (or a program acceptable to the Office of the Surgeon General, U.S. Army).
  • Completed an APA approved internship/residency in clinical psychology (or an internship/residency acceptable to the Office of the Surgeon General, U.S. Army).
  • Licensure:  Current license to practice psychology in any one of the 50 states; Basic Cardiac Life Support

Qualifications

  1. TS/SCI Clearance
  2. The psychologist shall hold a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) or Psychology Doctor (Psy.D.) degree in clinical or counseling psychology from an APA approved psychology program (or a program acceptable to the Office of the Surgeon General, U.S. Army).
  3. Shall have completed an APA approved internship/residency in clinical psychology (or an internship/residency acceptable to the Office of the Surgeon General, U.S. Army).
  4. Have and maintain a current license to practice psychology in any one of the 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, or the U.S. Virgin Islands.
  5. Have a minimum of two (2) year’s post-doctoral experience within the past five (5) years in the independent practice of psychology in the area of the clinical psychology, preferably in a Government setting such as a Department of Defense (DOD) or Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) MTF.
  6. Prior experience working with physicians providing medical psychological services is desired. Demonstrate a working knowledge of professional standards and ethics regarding the delivery of clinical psychology programs.
  7. Demonstrate computer literacy sufficient to operate a personal computer utilizing psychological test, word processing, database and spread sheet programs, and possess basic typing skills sufficient to efficiently produce the psychologist’s own reports and correspondence.
  8. All HCPs shall have and maintain current certification in Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) as certified by the American Heart Association. Documentation of such training shall be provided to the COR. The front and back of the BCLS shall be provided to the Credentialing Department.
  9. The contractor shall possess the ability to conduct, administer, and interpret the full spectrum of psychological assessment tools and to consult with command personnel.
  10. The contractor shall conduct baseline and post-event neuro-psychological screening and will collect/analyze data and monitor trends in psychological health as directed.
  11. The contractor shall have the ability to manage relevant process improvement, program validation, and related research is also expected of the contractor.
  12. The contractor shall possess a mastery of psychological assessment, behavioral health, behavioral research, and familiarity with organizational effectiveness literature, operational psychology, performance enhancement and training, and industrial/organizational psychology.
  13. Contractor may be required to receive and maintain clinical practice privileges.
  14. The contractor shall have experience and training in the assessment and treatment of alcohol and substance abuse conditions, domestic violence, child abuse, post-traumatic stress, mood and anxiety conditions, and family/marital issues.
  15. In addition to required doctoral level training and licensure, all Operational psychologists will have the following specialized training and education that prepare them for their duties. These requirements are waiverable, on a case by-case basis, by the senior Component Command Operational Psychologist. The contractor shall:
    • Prior military experience is desired.
    • Have fluent oral and written communication skills in English.
    • Have experience and training in personnel assessment and selection with some experience and understanding of  military personnel selection processes.
    • Possess or be willing to obtain SERE orientation and/or certification through the Joint Personnel Recovery Agency (JPRA).
    • Training in critical incident/stress trauma interventions.
    • Have post-doctoral training or be willing to obtain training qualifying them as Aerospace Psychologist as demonstrated by completion of USAF and/or USA aviation psychology training (USAFSAM’s Air Force’s Aviation Mishap Intervention and Prevention course and USASAM’s Aeromedical Psychology Training Course).
