Job Description

Responsibilities

The DevOps Professional will assist the Chief Engineer in designing and executing the technical strategic plan across the C2MS contract. The Ideal Candidate will: Be awesome to work with. The candidate has a variety of experiences working as an architect, systems or network engineer, or software engineer. You enjoy making use of your existing skills, but also developing new ones. You relish diving deep into the details surrounding a challenge…possibly writing code…and generally doing what it takes to accomplish the mission of supporting our Air Force Special Operations warriors.

 

Functional duties include:

  • Implementing and managing continuous delivery systems and methodologies across the software development teams (e.g., Web/Mobile, Airborne C2, etc.).
  • Implementing automated security controls, governance processes, and compliance validation processes across all teams
  • Defining and deploying monitoring, metrics, and logging strategies across applications, systems and services where applicable
  • Implementing systems that are highly available, scalable, and self-healing on-premise, and on the AWS platform
  • Designing, managing, and maintaining tools to automate operational processes, backups, ensuring service offerings provide highly available services
  • Assist with IT service transformation and migration planning and execution projects
  • Managing integration and production service environment for a rapidly growing service model

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Essential Qualifications:

  • 3 or more years’ experience provisioning, operating, and managing AWS environments
  • Experience developing code in at least one high-level programming language
  • Experience in automation and testing via scripting/programing
  • Understanding of agile and other development processes and methodologies
  • Thoroughly proficient in operating within a Unix or Linux environment
  • Experience in automating tasks using a script or interpreted language such as bash, PowerShell, Perl, Python, or Java, and automation frameworks like Terraform, Vagrant, and Packer
  • Experience deploying web application frameworks, such as Node.js, Django, Zope, or Rails
  • Experience using any of AWS CloudFormations, OpenStack Heat, Azure Resource Templates, or Google Deployment to automate deployment of cloud resources
  • Exposure to cloud APIs such as Fog, Boto, libcloud or similar
  • Ability to use a source control management system such as Git, Mercurial, or Subversion

Highly Desired Qualifications:

  •  3+ years of experience in Linux administration
  • 2+ years of experience providing Windows Server 2008/2012 server administration
  • Knowledge of firewalls and networking experience is a plus
  • Experience configuring use of service monitoring tools - SCOM, Solarwinds, Cloud Watch to manage service environment
  • Experience in virtualization of servers
  • Experience providing managed services in an IaaS, PaaS, SaaS Public Cloud environment
  • Certifications in Linux Admin or Microsoft Server Admin are a plus
  • Exposure to McAfee Host-Based Security System a plus
  • Strong technical competence and aptitude
  • Quick thinker, experienced in unconventional problem solving
  • Comfortable initiating change; consciously managing and shaping change
  • Ability to balance and consider multiple issues and perspectives while focusing on the overall vision
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to effectively interact with all levels of management from application developers to the CIO
  • Exceptional planning and organizational skills
  • Previous hands-on experience with complex Enterprise solutions and business applications
  • Ability to develop and maintain highly effective relationships, internally and externally
  • Positive "can do" attitude with focus on the success of the team over individual accomplishments
  • Strong interpersonal communication and presentation skills
  • Proficient in AWS Best Practices and use of Configuration Management (i.e. Ansible, Chef, Puppet)

Education

Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical training, or work/military experience.

 

AWS Certified Solutions Architect Professional or AWS Certified DevOps Engineer Professional 

DoD 8570 IAT-2 or higher compliant (Sec+ CE preferred)

Qualifications

  • 8-10 years of related systems engineering experience.
  • Must have a Secret Clearance to begin work and the ability to obtain a Top Secret-SCI security clearance
  • The work is performed in an office environment
  • Possible short term TDYs to meet with users
  • Must be able to obtain a passport for OCONUS travel, if required
  • Lift over 35 LBS
